GUCCI PROSPETTIVE 4: ANCORA LONDON
CURATED BY CHARLENE PREMPEH & LEWIS DALTON GILBERT
Gucci Prospettive 4 is the fourth volume in the house’s celebrated Prospettive book series.
Published by Contrasto, Gucci Prospettive once again offers a platform for exploring new horizons. Ancora Londra, curated by Charlene Prempeh and Lewis Dalton Gilbert, from the creative studio A Vibe Called Tech, prompts reflection on why London, with its contrasts, has been and remains a place where diversity thrives, and voices harmonize. “London is a city of dreamers. Inspiration springs from unexpected corners, and ideas whirl, coming to life in ways that can feel both accidental and startling,” say Prempeh and Gilbert. “You can try to define London by its geography—East vs. West, South vs. North London—but it’s an exercise that will leave you holding a handful of archetypes and clichés. The city, and the people we know who move within it, defy any real classification because the one thing both truly embody is the tension and beauty of opposition that we all hold within us.”
Prempeh and Gilbert lead us through four chapters– DREAM BUILDINGS, PEOPLE WATCHING, WATCHING PEOPLE, and BUILDING DREAMS– which showcase the significance of the relationship between space and person. London's architecture, from the modernist lines of the Barbican to the classic elegance of Mayfair, tells a story of reinvention and ongoing innovation while staying rooted in tradition. The London that emerges in this volume is a collection of experiences, each one a source of unexpected inspiration. Here, the culture of contrasts is seen in architectural and stylistic pairings, making each page an opportunity for discovery.
This book is not only a tribute to London but also a reflection on the future. The pages of Gucci Prospettive 4 invite readers to view contrasts as sources of inspiration, focusing on a city whose resilience and creativity continue to inspire those who live, visit, and dream of it. The publication of this volume coincides with the launch of the Gucci Cruise 2025 collection, presented in London at the Tate Modern in May 2024. Sabato De Sarno invited Charlene Prempeh and Lewis Dalton Gilbert to curate this edition, dedicated to their hometown. The book was officially unveiled to the public on November 14th during an event at the New Bond Street store. On the third floor, in the Gucci Salon, a discussion was held with the curators and Creative Director Sabato De Sarno, followed by a cocktail reception on the ground floor. Recently, New Bond Street also unveiled new installations within the store’s art collection, featuring works by artists such as Mustafa the Poet, Rachel Whiteread, Cerith Wyn Evans, Bob and Roberta Smith, Corbin Shaw, Remi Ajani, Sonia Boyce, and Sunil Gupta—all of whom are represented in Prospettive 4: Ancora Londra.
Gucci Prospettive 4 is available online and in selected bookstores.
